A 20-year-old YouTuber faces two years in jail for a prank he pulled on a homeless man. Kanghua Ren removed the white filling from a package of Oreo cookies and replaced it with toothpaste before repackaging the snacks. Then, he gave the now not-so-tasty treats to a homeless man and filmed what happened.

Ren, who posts video blogs on YouTube under ReSet and lives in Spain, gave the toothpaste-filled to Gheorge L., a 52-year-old homeless man he encountered on the streets of Barcelona in January 2017.

Gheorge consumed some of the cookies before he felt ill. He vomited about five minutes after eating the Oreos and began fearing for his life as he didn’t know what Ren may have done to them.

Ren uploaded the video and, at one point in the clip, even said, “Maybe I’ve gone a bit far, but look at the positive side: This will help him clean his teeth. I think he hasn’t cleaned them since he became poor.”

The ReSet channel has more than a million subscribers, and Ren does receive revenue from the advertising that runs on them.

There was a backlash from some of Ren’s viewers after the video was uploaded to his channel, leading him to seek out Gheorge again and see what he thought of the Oreos.

“People exaggerate over jokes in the street [played] on a beggar, when surely if it’s done to a normal person they wouldn’t say anything,” he said in a follow-up video.

Ren reportedly planned to join Gheorge on the street overnight, but a witness contacted the local authorities.

Ren now faces a charge of “crime against moral integrity.” The prosecutors are seeking restitution for Gheorge as well as a two-year jail term.

The videos have since been deleted and, according to a report by the Daily Mail, Ren tried to offer Gheorge money to stay quiet, allowing Ren to “reestablish his image” and “ingratiate himself with public opinion.”

Ren has reportedly pulled other similar students before, including places cat feces in sandwiches that he fed to elderly individuals and school children.
