On Tuesday afternoon, a woman opened fire in YouTube’s headquarters, located in San Bruno, California. At least three people are known to be injured, including one man who was deemed critical by medical staff, and taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The shooter, whom law enforcement say was a woman, appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

One witness, who was at the Carl’s Jr. fast food restaurant located across the street from YouTube’s headquarters, discussed hearing “two, three shots” followed by about 10 more, according to a report by CNN. Then, he saw a “girl running out” of the YouTube building who was “shot in the leg.”

Patrons at the restaurant began assisting the woman, using napkins to help stop the bleeding.

When asked what was going through his mind, the witness stated, “I knew I had to be smart. You gotta be smart, you gotta be fast.”

The witness also added, “I didn’t have a gun on me, but I wish I did.”

California has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. It still isn’t clear what firearm was used by the shooter, as that information has not been provided by law enforcement.

Current reports suggest the shooter open fired on her boyfriend, potentially making the event a case of domestic violence.

Law enforcement officials do not appear to be treating the incident as an act of terrorism.
