On Tuesday, a woman opened fire in YouTube’s headquarters, shooting three people before turning the gun on herself. While initial reports indicated it was a domestic violence incident, new details suggest the woman, identified as 39-year-old Nasim Aghdam, a content creator on the site, had a vendetta against the company.

Aghdam stormed into the YouTube headquarters building in San Bruno, California, with a handgun. She shot a man and two women before turning the gun on herself. Aghdam was found dead at the scene by the time law enforcement arrived.

Aghdam, who is from Southern California, was a content creator on YouTube, regularly producing videos, and had over 5,000 subscribers.

In January 2017, Aghdam claimed in a video that her contact was being “discriminated and filtered.”

She also stated that the company’s “dictatorial” new policies were harming her channel and that YouTube was “censoring her videos and not paying her.” One specific example she had provided was a video showing her doing ab exercises, which she claims YouTube put an age restriction on.

Aghdam further expressed her anger with YouTube on other social media platforms, including posts on Facebook.

She also had her own website featuring the statement, “Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!” accompanied by screenshots showing how your number of views had declined between January and October 2016, and questioning her revenue from the site.

While Aghdam’s channels have since been removed, according to a report by the Daily Mail, the description said, “Nasim the Persian Azeri female vegan bodybuilder, also animal rights activist promoting healthy and human living.”

According to Dianna Arnspiger, Aghdam was wearing glasses and a scarf at the time of the shooting and was carrying a “big huge pistol.”

The three victims who were shot were taken to area hospitals. The man, 36, was listed in critical condition while one woman, 32, was considered in serious condition and the second woman, 27, was in fair condition after the shooting.

Aghdam is currently the only fatality.
