One man decided to take a unique approach to profess his love for Kirkland Signature Light beer, a generic brew available at Costco, by creating an “ad” that ultimately went viral. Randy Colpek filmed the commercial in his backyard and appeared inebriated in the video. Numerous takes were required, but Colpek shared the outtakes, many of which are hilarious.
Colpek, a carpenter from California, can be seen trying to break through a wall constructed of empty beer cases in many of the outtakes.
He also created a few slogans for the beer, including: “Kirkland Light: available in 48 packs where you buy your pants,” “Kirkland Light: It’s got 30 percent less calories, so you can drink double the amount,” “Kirkland Light: Life is like beer. Drink it in and p*** it out,” and “Kirkland Light: Give me a Kirkland, a cozy, and a floozy!”
Friends of Colpek assisted with creating the ad, as well as reconstructing the wall after each failed attempt to break through.
The video was actually filmed last summer but went viral after he shared it on Reddit on Wednesday. In his post, Colpek claimed to consume around 18 cans of the Costco beer on a daily basis.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, a 48 pack retails for about $22, making it an affordable option for beer drinkers.
Colpek stated in his Reddit post that Costco has not expressed any interest in his ad. But, the video has gathered over 288,000 views on YouTube.
The caption on the video reads: “I am an idiot and I made a stupid video.”
