Levi Bliss was planning on proposing to his girlfriend of two years, Allison Barron. He had already picked out a ring and received her father’s permission. Typically, wedding proposals are supposed to sweet and even a bit emotional. Well, Allison’s father, Jake, apparently didn’t get the message and decided to bring a sign that has since taken the internet by storm.
As Levi got down on one knee and prepared to ask Allison for her hand in marriage, Jake decided to have some fun by standing off in the distance with the sign that read, “Say No.”
Before anyone gets too upset, Allison ignored her father’s sign and said yes.
“This is really just my dad’s personality,” Allison told Buzzfeed News. “We have a very close family and so he’s made little jokes like this before.” Allison wanted to make it clear to all that he father was only joking and he and Levi have a good relationship.
According to Fox News, Levi and Jake play sports together and ride dirt bikes. In fact, the two have such a good relationship that while he was popping the question, Levi noticed the sign and burst into laughter.
“We both know my dad so well, we got the joke right away and found it funny,” Allison explained.
The internet seemingly approved of the light-hearted fun as the post has racked up over 223,000 likes since it was placed online Saturday evening. The event created an entire movement on Twitter where people respond to dad jokes with Jake’s sign.
Allison doesn’t mind her wedding proposal going viral. In fact, it’s just another reason to remember that day. “You always see little things like this blow up on Twitter and now it’s me,” she said. “It [has] also been one of the best days ever, so I really get to just keep reliving it!”
If this is how he plans to welcome another man to the family, we can’t wait to see what he has planned for the wedding. Here’s hoping Jake doesn’t lose his sense of humor any time soon.
